When (did you start Vintage)...2008 when my wife made me answer a call for players in the SJ Mercury News.

 

Why Vintage...  I joined because I love any sport with a ball.  I'm a homeboy and played high school ball here and fast-pitch in the Navy.  I hadn't played softball for 34 years when I joined Vintage.  It has not only given me the chance to play ball again, but also a terrific bunch of friends.

What (makes you tick)....Softball, family, my dog, reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, DIY projects of all kinds, and working. In that order!

When (did you start Vintage) ... Winter of 2019.

Why Vintage...  Vintage saved my sanity during the Covid lock down. The players in Fun League were so welcoming and helpful. I've had the time of my life these past few years learning to play better and making new friends. It's a great community of people from all walks of life who just love playing ball.

What (makes you tick)....Avid reader and volunteering at various organizations including "Neighborhood Hands" and "St Leo's Food Bank"

Why Vintage...(1) Playing proves to me that I can still play ball.....(2) This league provides a great social group I'd otherwise miss... (3) Playing 3 times a week provides a fun way to exercise.

What (makes you tick)....I've seen so many place in my life (including Florida, Hawaii, Portland & Mexico) through my softball travel teams 

 

When (did you start Vintage) ... : joined Vintage in 1996

 

Why Vintage...This is likely my last league and being able to play with my son has been special!

What (makes you tick)... I  assist a licenced chiropractor with clients who need to recover from ankle, hip and/or knee injuries/replacements taking them on hikes to "re-learn how to function... I've also worked as an umpire for 8 years keeping a league functioning as its  "lead umpire"

Why Vintage... I need to "keep moving" and I prefer to do it by doing something I love to do….

Why Vintage... After finding the league through a web search, I've enjoyed great Camaraderie and  enjoyment with "most" of the vintage players.... and after hitting a HR over the fence at Moffett on my 3rd AB after being given a Sr bat by Mike Duggan.... I was hooked !!!

What (makes you tick)....I have a lot of trains (HO Train sets) & I like watching baseball & football and I ride my bike about 2 1/2 miles a day

Why Vintage...You get drafted 4 times a year allowing you to meet even more players and for the money, it's well worth it .

Why Vintage...Where else could you find old ornery guys like me to play a game you love ... and being able to share and help each other through our health challenges has been priceless ("us old guys aren't afraid to talk about our health")
